Course Information
Course Format
Saturday club sessions in small groups. Students work through olympiad-style problems with a mentor in the room.
Structure
One 120-minute session each week for 16 weeks. Grades 1 to 10 sit in bands that match the schedule table.

Course Description
Problem solving for grades 1 to 10, every Saturday, in one 120-minute session. Students work through olympiad-style problems in small groups and sit at least one international competition each year.
Why the Math Olympiad Club?
Olympiad problems ask for ideas the school syllabus does not name. The club gives students time, a mentor and a peer group so they can try those ideas before a contest clock is running.
What knowledge and skills can the child gain by completing this course?
- Approach a problem that has no worked example in the textbook.
- Explain a solution out loud so a teammate can follow it.
- Recognise the pattern families that contests reuse: invariants, counting, geometry.
- Manage time across a paper instead of getting stuck on the first hard item.
- Sit a named international contest with a coach who has walked the paper.
Get a Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the Mathematics Olympiads Club, students receive a Certificate of Completion. It records the term they sat and the contest they entered, and it is something they can show their school.

Warm-up puzzles
Short problems that teach how to write a solution, not only an answer.
Counting
Systematic listing, complementary counting and the first pigeonhole arguments.
Number sense
Divisibility, remainders and last digits without a calculator.
Geometry sketches
Angles, triangles and a clean diagram before any algebra.
Contest papers
Timed AMC-style sets, marked together the following Saturday.
Team round
One paper, one team — the format TeenEagle and similar contests use.
